Blog Entry00708: Fighting the Weather Gods Jul 10, '09 8:23 AM
for everyone
The rain is not at all encouraging. It's bad enough that I haven't exactly been feeling 100% lately, what more that the weather has chosen not to cooperate tonight prior to my last work shift of the week. Oh boo.

rOckY will go to work today. rOckY will go to work today. rOckY will go to work today.

I'm not sure if that mantra's gonna work, but it's worth a shot, I suppose. It's annoying how vulnerable you become to sick leaves whenever you feel under the weather. Maybe that's what that term is really supposed to mean - that somehow we're under the influence or control of the weather, as if it was some kind of evil boss in a game with mind control abilities or something. Ack, I think I've been watching too much of The Guild today - obviously the notion of gamer concepts is creeping into my thought processes to some degree, hehe. But it's totally understandable - Season 2 of the Guild is going to start up pretty soon!

The fridge arrived today after a little shopping excursion yesterday. As I was reviewing yesterday's entry, I realized that while I had mentioned the stepping out bit, I never clarified what we actually accomplished. Tobie finally bought a larger fridge and the gas tank / gas range plans were put on hold a bit longer. We're going to resolve that this weekend, though. While there's technically nothing functionally wrong with the personal fridge that Tobie brought with him, the size of the unit severely limited our ability to stock up on ingredients and really open the door to experimentation in the kitchen. We're luck to pre-plan a few dishes but beyond that we can't try too much since it'll max out the fridge and probably overwork the compressor.

Oh, and we can't make ice either. Or store ice cream, which is a major priority for Tobie, haha.

So now we have a larger Condura fridge that has 7 cubic feet of capacity. It's a single door fridge since that seemed to be the most economical in terms of the storage versus electricity consumption ratio plus the unit had some really high energy efficiency ratings. This particular design appealed to us for many reasons. Key features including (1) ample freezer space, (2) smart ice tray location, (3) 2 litter bottle holding tray, (4) nice exterior. We're still waiting for the whole thing to settle down after the movement and once the waiting period is over, we can fire up the engines (so to speak) and start loading it for real.

And then Tobie is going to buy ice cream. Oh noes!

Lastly, rOckY will go to work today.
